Dr. Rukhsana Haider from Bangladesh joins IFWIP as a Member of the Board of Advisers.

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Rukhsana Haider from Bangladesh is joining us as a Member of the Board of Advisers.

We would like to warmly welcome Dr. Haider.

We are very grateful to her and all other members of our Board of Advisers for their valuable time in supporting the IFWIP initiative.

 

Dr. Rukhsana Haider, MBBS, MSc, IBCLC, PhD

 

 

Dr. Rukhsana Haider  (Bangladesh) is a physician, International Board-certified lactation consultant and public health nutritionist who studied at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK.

She is the Founder and Chairperson of the Training and Assistance for Health & Nutrition Foundation (TAHN), she is also the Chair of the Civil Society Alliance for Scaling Up Nutrition (CSA for SUN) in Bangladesh, and Co-Chair of the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) Steering Committee which operates from Malaysia.

Having experience of working with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) South-East Asia Regional Office in India, with Unicef and the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease, Bangladesh, she continues to be a resource person for these UN agencies, and for the national government and international non-government organizations.  

Dr. Haider advocates and contributes to establishing policies, platforms and services that inform, encourage and support pregnant and lactating women with infants and young children, and adolescents, for improving their mental, emotional, physical well-being and nutrition.

Her passion, however, is to develop and support community-based peer counsellors to provide services to these target groups. She is a firm believer and implementer of action-oriented research and has several publications to her credit. She loves to travel for relevant conferences and advisory group meetings where she can catch up with old friends, make new ones and get energised for further activities.
